Cardinals Win with Late Heroics
|
The St. Louis Cardinals clipped the Kansas City Royals, 4-3, in 10 innings at Busch Stadium. The standout performance belonged to St. Louis pitcher and Los Angeles, California, native Ed Franklin. Nelson Acosta snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits over 2 innings. He's now 7-0 on the season. The St. Louis win streak is now 3 games.
The Cardinals got a clutch hit from catcher Cristián Gómez. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Cardinals.
"Really good pitchers have that ability to raise their game when they need to," said St. Louis manager Ty Van Burkleo.
