Almost There: Greensboro On Cusp of Round 2 Triumph After 5-1 Win
Rome had trouble with Greensboro starter Dave Proulx, who frustrated Firebirds hitters, as the Grasshoppers cruised to victory, 5-1, in Game 4 of the Round 2. The Grasshoppers now hold a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 series, thanks in large part to the left-handed Proulx, who controlled Rome throughout the contest and threw 5.0 innings allowing 1 run.

Steve Hawkins dealt the Firebirds a blow in the top of the sixth. Batting with the bases loaded and Greensboro leading 2-1, Hawkins hit a 0-2 fastball for a 2-run single.

"You need to show up when your number's called," said Hawkins.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at State Mutual Stadium in Rome.
