Phil Christopher pitched a gem to help the Boston Red Sox escape with a tight, 1-0 victory over the Kansas City Royals in a low-scoring League Divisional Series contest. The left-handed Christopher threw 8.0 innings of shutout ball in the win, just enough for the Red Sox on a day when their offense dried up. Boston now leads the best-of-5 series 2-0.

Christopher allowed no runs on 4 hits over 8 innings for the Red Sox. He walked 1 and struck out 6.

"I liked his command," said Boston manager Alvin Morman. "Phil was throwing strikes."

The next game is set to be played for Tuesday, October 7th , 2025 at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City.
