Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Atlanta Firebirds and Arizona Diamondbacks.

Behind a solid performance from designated hitter Desi Godfrey, the Atlanta Firebirds defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks, 6-4. Godfrey belted 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for the Firebirds. The winning pitcher was 28-year old right-handed pitcher Mike Whiteford. He tossed 97 pitches over 5 innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits. Joel Nelson, credited with the save, is now 5 for 6 in save opportunities.

With Atlanta trailing 3-1 in the bottom of the third, Godfrey hit a cutter from Pancho Escobar for a 3-run home run. It was his 13th home run of the season and put the Firebirds ahead, 4-3.

"Enjoyed this one," Godfrey told the Atlanta Chronicle. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
