Cincinnati and Arizona duked it out and the Reds came out victorious.
The Cincinnati Reds picked up a win at Great American Ball Park, downing the Arizona Diamondbacks, 6-3. On the mound for Cincinnati was left-hander Steven Matz, who played a pivotal role in the win. The winner was Matz. He threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball. The loser was Raúl Morán.
The Reds had to work out of trouble in the top of the ninth. The score was 6-3, Cincinnati, with two out. Arizona, with the bases loaded, was mounting a threat. Toshikuni Kondo dug in at the plate, but on a 2-1 changeup, he flied out.
Cincinnati is now 30-33.
