8-4 Loss Deepens Minnesota Funk
|
Toronto second baseman António Chávez contributed significantly to his team's 8-4 win over the Minnesota Twins. Chávez, who finished 5th in the AL in slugging percentage with .484 last year, went 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Blue Jays. José Amaya, credited with the save, is now 1 for 3 in save opportunities. Toronto has now won 5 straight.
Rintaro Ikeda was 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs for Toronto. The 33-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the fourth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a 2-run single off Hector A. Garcia. It was his 67th hit of the season.
"I like our mindset right now," said Toronto manager José Soto.
