Firebirds Lose to Giants, 6-1
|
Atlanta had no answer for San Francisco Giants hurler Ritzi Mendoza, who overwhelmed Firebirds hitters as the Giants coasted to victory, 6-1. The winner was Mendoza. He threw 5.1 innings of 3-hit ball. The loser was Jeremiah MacGregor. The win puts San Francisco at 40-26 this season.
The Giants got a big at-bat from third baseman Nolan Arenado. For the game, Arenado went 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 13th home run of the season gave San Francisco a 3-0 lead.
"I just tried to put the barrel on it," said Arenado.
