Tigers Lose, 5-4, at Field of the Spikes
The WL Orioles did just enough to secure a 5-4 victory over the WL Tigers at Field of the Spikes. Nobody did more than designated hitter Brian Gonzalez, who captured player of the game honors. The winner was Brandon Koch in relief. His record improves to 3-3. Rangi Yungara took the loss. The save was Norm Looker's, his 1st.

Gonzalez contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for WL in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 2-1, Gonzalez took a cutter from Rangi Yungara and stroked the home run to right. His 2nd home run of the season allowed the Orioles to leap in front, 3-2.

"We squandered some opportunities," said WL manager Mike Fetters.

The 4th-place Orioles improved to 11-13.
