The San Diego Padres defeated the Cincinnati Reds, 4-2, at Petco Park. San Diego second baseman José Jiménez had a superb performance. He went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles. He scored 2 times. Julio Urias got the win, improving to 1-0. He worked 5.1 innings, giving up 2 runs on 4 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2. Steve Huff finished to wrap up his 12th save.
Jiménez contributed in the bottom of the second. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a run-scoring single. It was one at-bat among others that helped San Diego get the win.
After the game, San Diego manager applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
With the win over Cincinnati, the Padres improved to 31-35.
