Red Sox Rack Up 3-1 Win Versus Texas
|
Boston turned a good performance from starting pitcher Tony Nava into a 3-1 triumph over the Texas Rangers at Fenway Park. The winning pitcher was Nava, now 7-2. He tossed 5.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 5. The Red Sox now have a record of 34-35 with the win over Texas.
Franly Mallen, who is tied for 9th in the AL in triples with 2, aided the Boston cause with a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the second. For the game, the second baseman was 1-4.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Boston manager Alvin Morman. "It's usually not just one thing."
