Mike Cunningham, who is tied for 10th in the AL in innings pitched with 84.1, had a strong outing for the Houston Astros against the Colorado Rockies at Minute Maid Park. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 3-1 win. Bob Ramsey closed the door for Houston, picking up his 10th save of the year. Houston has now won 5 games in a row.
Houston went in front, 3-1, on Ed Simmons's 7th home run of the season. The solo home run, which Simmons hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Colorado pitcher Christopher Acosta visibly perturbed.
"My gosh almighty, Mike was tremendous," said Houston manager Mike Napoli.
