The St. Louis Cardinals picked up a win at Busch Stadium, knocking off the San Diego Padres, 7-3. Starting pitcher Daniel Missaki played a key role in the triumph. Carlos A. Salazar sewed up the save, his 13th. The last-place Padres dropped to 33-39.

Sergio Cortés hit a run-scoring triple off Jesús Rodríguez in the bottom of the second, which put the Cardinals in front, 3-2. Cortés had 2 singles, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 3 for 5.
