Twins Win at Cincinnati, 3-1
|
Cincinnati got a decent performance from pitcher Dave Parsons, but it wasn't enough to beat the Minnesota Twins. Minnesota won the Great American Ball Park contest, 3-1. Parsons threw 6.2 innings allowing 3 runs for the losing team. Minnesota reliever Randy Lewis picked up the win, upping his record to 1-2. Dave Parsons absorbed the loss. Pat Calhoun earned the save for Minnesota, his 8th.
Carol Westerhout, who is the 3rd-best prospect in the Twins organization, had a direct impact on the outcome. Westerhout contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put Minnesota up, 2-1.
"Bottom line," said Cincinnati skipper Julio Vinas, "we didn't play well enough to win."
The setback makes Cincinnati 34-38.
