Steven Matz pitched well, but his team, the Cincinnati Reds, still dropped a 3-1 decision to the Minnesota Twins at Great American Ball Park. Minnesota pitcher Bob McDonald got the win, upping his record to 5-5. Steven Matz got the loss. Today's win puts Minnesota at 34-40, while Cincinnati falls to 34-39.

The Twins got a big at-bat from catcher Francisco Mejia. For the game, Mejia went 1 for 5 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the first, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 8th home run of the season gave Minnesota a 2-0 lead.

"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Mejia.
