Cardinals Lose By a Run at Kansas City
|
Fans witnessed a whale of a game between the Kansas City Royals and St. Louis Cardinals.
St. Louis right fielder Juan Encarnación was sensational. He was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Kansas City beat the Cardinals, 6-5. The win belonged to Tim Lawson in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Walt Henley took the loss for St. Louis.
The Royals got a big at-bat from center fielder Ramão La Arena. For the game, La Arena was 1 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 7th home run of the season gave Kansas City a 6-5 lead.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Kansas City manager Jim Tracy.
The Royals win now puts them at 34-41.
