Cubs Drop Blue Jays, 6-5
|
The Chicago Cubs did just enough to sneak past the Toronto Blue Jays, 6-5, at Wrigley Field. Chicago pitcher Matt Harvey, in particular, had a standout performance. Harvey, now 2-0, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing 3 runs. Orlando Romero earned the save for Chicago, his 16th.
The Cubs got a big at-bat from right fielder Ron Hicks. For the game, Hicks was 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 6th home run of the season gave Chicago a 5-3 lead.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Hicks said after the game.
The winning streak has now reached 4 games for Chicago.
