Mariners Absorb 6-2 Home Loss
|
Safeco Field was the site for American League action featuring the Seattle Mariners and Boston Red Sox.
Jim Williamson was a major contributor to the 6-2 Boston win over Seattle. The Red Sox left fielder was 3 for 5 with 2 doubles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Earning his 19th save for Boston was Terence McCray.
Steve Potter went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk for Boston. The 26-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the fourth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring single off Anastasio Rodríguez. It was his 60th hit of the season.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Potter said after the game.
With the win, the Red Sox improved to 37-38.
