Arizona turned a good effort from starter Pancho Escobar into a win over the New York Mets at Citi Field. The Diamondbacks won the game, 4-2. The winning pitcher was Escobar, now 1-0. He tossed 5.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 5 and fanning 6. Jorge Gonzáles locked down his 1st save.

The Diamondbacks got a big at-bat from center fielder Jorge Aguilar. For the game, Aguilar went 1-4 with a double. In the top of the second, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 1st double of the season gave Arizona a 1-0 lead.

"That's how you're going to be successful," said Diamondbacks manager Jake Mauer. "It starts with pitching and it will always be pitching."

The win gives Arizona a record of 2-1.
