Though the conditions were not ideal, the Cincinnati Reds and New York Yankees came back from a rain delay to finish their game.

Riding the 3-hit performance of the speedster José Parra, the Cincinnati Reds stopped the New York Yankees, 4-1, in 9 innings. Bert Gooderston picked up the win with 6.2 innings of work. He allowed 1 run on 5 hits, while walking 6 and striking out 2. On the season, he is now 8-7.

With Cincinnati leading 1-0 in the top of the fourth, Parra hit a curveball from Jonathon Carroll for a 2-run home run. It was his 9th home run of the season and put the Reds ahead, 3-0.
