Red Sox Beaten By Giants, 7-3
|
The San Francisco Giants overcame a good performance by Boston second baseman Yoan Moncada to knock off Boston, 7-3, at AT&T Park. Moncada was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. San Francisco pitcher Ritzi Mendoza got the win, upping his record to 6-5. Andrew Heaney got the loss. Juan Sánchez was called on to finish, recording his 4th save.
Franly Mallen had a big 2-run triple for the Giants in the bottom of the first inning. With San Francisco leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a fastball from 34-year old left-handed pitcher Andrew Heaney and swatted a triple to left-center. It was his 3rd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Giants ahead, 3-0.
"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said Mallen.
The triumph puts San Francisco at 45-31 for the season.
