Oakland Dismisses Houston, 8-4
|
Eric Caine helped his team muscle past the Houston Astros, 8-4. In the game, the Oakland left fielder was 1-5 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Aaron Nola was the winner. He's now 6-3. The loser was fan favorite Lachlan Madden. The Athletics raised their record to 32-47.
With Oakland leading 3-2 in the top of the fifth, Caine hit a fastball from Jhosmar Cortez for a grand slam home run. It was his 13th home run of the season and put the Athletics ahead, 7-2.
"Eric leaves the last at-bat behind him, whether it was good or bad, and goes up there and competes on every pitch," said Oakland manager Bob Melvin.
