Cincinnati Reds pitcher Walt Sharpe was in fine form, leading his team past the Milwaukee Brewers, 2-1. The win gives Cincinnati a season record of 41-38.

The decisive blow was delivered by Greg Jones in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a run-scoring double off 27-year old right-handed pitcher Greg Schatz to win the game for Cincinnati. The home crowd went nuts.

Jones called the win a test of his team's "mettle."
