Twins Win at Home, 8-2
|
Minnesota Twins starter Chris Ford turned in a top-notch performance against the Seattle Mariners at Target Field. The result was a win for the Twins, 8-2. Ford yielded 2 runs over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 0, and struck out 7. His record improves to 7-5. Minnesota is now 39-42, while Seattle is 39-40.
Sojuro Iwamoto had a big 2-run double for the Twins in the bottom of the second inning. With Minnesota leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a sinker from former first round draft pick Al Lockhart and swatted a double to left. It was his 18th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Twins ahead, 3-0.
"Chris executed his pitches at a high level," said Minnesota manager Robin Ventura.
