The New York Mets used a great performance from 23-year old right-handed pitcher José Ferrer to beat the Philadelphia Phillies, 2-1, at Citi Field. The loss makes Philadelphia 42-42.

New York starter José Ferrer was exceptional. The 6-foot-3 right-hander allowed 1 run on 4 hits over 7.2 innings of work.

"José can bring it," said New York manager Mike Matheny.
