Cubs Win at Milwaukee, 2-1
|
The Milwaukee Brewers got a superb performance from pitcher Tim Hankins. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Chicago. The Cubs won the game, 2-1. Hankins threw 5.2 innings allowing 1 run. Chicago starter Jose Paulino was credited with the win after throwing 100 pitches over 5.2 innings. His record now stands at 6-4. Jim Kemp earned the save for Chicago, his 1st.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Ben Collins? The Chicago first baseman had a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Cubs on top, 2-1. For the game, Collins had 1 double and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Milwaukee manager Doug Dascenzo. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
By defeating Milwaukee, the 4th-place Cubs improved to 40-45.
