Mariners Score 7-3 Win Against Pittsburgh
|
The Seattle Mariners had to overcome a big game from Pittsburgh third baseman Mauro Rodríguez to leave Safeco Field with a victory. And they did, winning, 7-3. Rodríguez went 3-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Dave Evans was the winner. Over 5.2 innings, he yielded 2 runs on 6 hits, with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts. The Mariners improved their record to 43-45 by beating Pittsburgh.
Albert Almora had a big 2-run double for the Mariners in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Seattle leading 2-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 30-year old right-handed pitcher Alex Reyes and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Mariners ahead, 4-0.
"We're a talented bunch when we're playing well," said Almora. "I think we showed that here."
