The Seattle Mariners eked out a 3-2 win versus the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium. Nobody did more than pitcher Donnie Ellis. He was terrific. The winner was Ellis. He threw 6.0 innings allowing 2 runs. The loser was Luis Severino. The second-place Mariners bumped their record to 45-47.

Seattle used a well-timed hit by Ryan McMahon to capture the win. The third baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Mariners ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

"I really like what we did out there today," McMahon said after the game.
