Reds Get 8-3 Win Versus New York
|
The Cincinnati Reds took on the New York Mets at Citi Field.
The Cincinnati Reds knocked off the New York Mets, 8-3, in National League action at Citi Field. Cincinnati pitcher and Templeton, Massachusetts, native Walt Sharpe had an outstanding performance. In 6.1 innings, Sharpe surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run.
Tito Polo hit a run-scoring triple off Franklin E. Perez in the top of the second, which put the Reds in front, 2-1. In addition to the triple, Polo had 1 single and 1 walk, while going 2 for 4.
"Main thing is I want the team to win," Sharpe told a reporter after the game. "Just have to go out there, take care of my job, and give my team a chance to win."
