New York Stopped, 3-1, by Cincinnati
|
Starting pitcher Bert Gooderston gave the Cincinnati Reds a rock-solid effort. The Santa Fe, New Mexico native helped his team defeat the New York Mets, 3-1, at Citi Field. Anthony DeSclafani earned his 19th save in 21 chances. The loss makes New York 35-63.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for José Parra? The Cincinnati right fielder had a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Reds on top, 1-0. For the game, Parra had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Bert's as tough as he is talented," said Cincinnati manager Julio Vinas.
