Mariners Earn 5-3 Home Win
|
The Seattle Mariners defeated the Milwaukee Brewers, 5-3, in American League action at Safeco Field. Seattle pitcher Dave Evans had a standout performance. In 5 innings, Evans surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 3. He allowed 2 runs. Picking up his 26th save was fireballing right-hander Eddie Muggleston.
The Mariners got a big at-bat from first baseman Brad Miller. For the game, Miller was 1 for 2 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Seattle a 2-0 lead.
"Dave showed what he's made of," said Seattle manager Jeff Banister.
The Mariners saw their record improve to 52-49.
