Cortés goes 4-for-5, Leads Cardinals to Win
Cardinals center fielder Sergio Cortés put his stamp on his team's 7-5 win over the Colorado Rockies. Cortés was 4-5 with a home run and 2 doubles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for St. Louis in the contest. Daniel Missaki, the winner, goes to 8-8. He allowed 5 runs on 9 hits, with 2 walks and 1 strikeout over 6.1 innings. St. Louis goes to 46-57, Colorado to 53-49.

The Rockies had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Cardinals going into the top of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 29-year old third baseman Brian Schales came to the plate. Schales hit a 2-run double on a 1-0 fastball from Colorado hurler Bernardo García. It was Schales's 10th double of the year.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Schales told the St. Louis Daily.
