Washington Ruins Terrific Game by Harper
|
The inspired effort of Washington center fielder Bryce Harper was not enough to prevent a loss, 4-2, to the Minnesota Twins. Harper went 3 for 3 with 2 home runs, a double, and a walk. Minnesota starter Huascar Ynoa was credited with the win after throwing 90 pitches over 8 innings. His record now stands at 3-10. Pat Calhoun finished the game for Minnesota and earned his 13th save.
The Twins had to work out of trouble in the top of the ninth. The score was 4-2, Minnesota, with one out. Washington, with a runner on 1st, was mounting a threat. Shane Mardirosian dug in at the plate, but on a 2-2 fastball, he struck out.
With the victory, the Twins record stands at 50-54.
