Seattle Offense Jammed Up by Angels

Rod Swift imposed his will on the Mariners from the get-go. Relying mainly on his fastball, the left-hander spearheaded the 3-1 Los Angeles triumph. The win belonged to Kevin Phillips in relief. His record improves to 5-2. Al Lockhart took the loss for Seattle. The save was credited to Héctor Rosado, his 33rd.
Los Angeles took a 3-1 lead on Starling Heredia's 8th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which Heredia hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Seattle pitcher Ming-jiang Kang visibly frustrated.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Los Angeles manager Mike Scioscia.
Los Angeles has an impressive 72-33 record.
