Nationals Drop Astros, 8-5
|
Nationals catcher Oscar Hernandez left his imprint on his team's 8-5 win over the Houston Astros. Hernandez went 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for Washington in the contest. Washington reliever Dominic Bingham was the winner. His record is now 4-5. Blake Snell took the loss. Washington has won 4 straight, while Houston has lost 5 in a row.
The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Bryce Harper came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing Houston pitcher Jesús Mejía, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Washington on top, 5-4.
"Our goal is to improve each and every day," Hernandez told the Washington News.
