Astros Take Tight Tilt, 4-3
|
Led by Devin Jones, the Houston Astros downed the Miami Marlins, 4-3. Jones went 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk for the Astros. Greg Connolly, who went 5 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with no runs on 3 hits, while walking 5 and striking out 7. His record now stands at 5-7. Jesús Mejía locked down his 11th save.
Houston took a 4-2 lead on Steve McGuire's 17th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which McGuire hit in the top of the eighth, left Miami pitcher Simon Mercedes visibly frustrated.
After the game, Houston manager Manny Acta applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
The win has Houston at 44-69.
