The home crowd had a good time watching the Chicago White Sox and Boston Red Sox get after it.

The Boston Red Sox got a good effort from starter Les Hampson in defeating the Chicago White Sox at Fenway Park. The final score was 4-0. Hampson, now 2-1, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 1 hit, while striking out 2, walking 4, and allowing no runs.

Raúl Diharce had a big 2-run triple for the Red Sox in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Boston leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a changeup from Mike Kelly, who finished 3rd in the AL in innings pitched with 189.2 in 2021, and swatted a triple to left-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Red Sox ahead, 3-0.

"It wasn't a very good day at the ballpark," said Chicago manager Morgan Ensberg.

The first-place Red Sox have won 5 consecutive games.
