The Milwaukee Brewers got a superb performance from pitcher Daryl Scott, but the New York Mets still won the game, 6-5. Scott threw 6.1 innings allowing 1 run. Jim Allen, now 5-3, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. Their 43-73 record puts the Mets last in the National League East Division.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Kenny Hernandez? The 26-year old shortstop Hernandez stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put New York up, 6-4. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.

"No time for flexing," said Hernandez. "It's always one game at a time."
