The Cleveland Guardians defeated the San Diego Padres, 6-4, at Progressive Field. Cleveland was led by 33-year old left fielder Mike Papi, who went 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Abel Haney claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. His record stands at 4-0. The Guardians now have a mark of 58-67.

Papi had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a first pitch sinker from Jesús Rodríguez, he banged a 2-run home run to left-center, giving the Guardians a 5-4 lead. It was the 15th home run of the year for Papi.

"To get where we want to as a team, we all have to do things out of our comfort zone," Papi told the Cleveland News.
