Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Luis Fernández was in fine form, leading his team past the Colorado Rockies, 4-1. The Pirates improved their record to 61-67 by beating Colorado.

Blake Swihart had a big 2-run double for the Pirates in the bottom of the third inning. With Pittsburgh leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a curveball from 25-year old left-handed pitcher Steve Miller and swatted a double to center. It was his 16th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Pirates ahead, 4-0.

"Nice to tuck this win away," said Swihart.
