Kirk Griffith never let Miami get something going. The Washington right-hander commanded his curveball in pitching the Nationals to a 4-1 win. Washington leads the National League East Division by 5½ games.

Oscar Hernandez, who led the NL in RBI with 142 in 2019, had a direct impact on the outcome. Hernandez contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the third inning to put Washington up, 2-0.

"We did a lot of things right," said Hernandez.
