Chicago starter Rocky Thompson kept the Minnesota offense from doing much damage. The right-hander leaned on his slider in leading the White Sox to a 4-1 win. Steve Peters earned the save, his 19th, for the White Sox. The defeat makes Minnesota 56-74.

Byron Buxton contributed a productive at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With a runner on 1st, he hit a single. His at-bat helped Chicago get the win.

"Rocky did what Rocky does," said Chicago manager Fredi Gonzalez.
