Portillo Hammers 2 Homers in 5-4 Win
|
Arizona first baseman Sergio Portillo picked up 4 ribbies while helping his team beat back the Chicago Cubs, 5-4. Aurelio Martínez earned the save, his 2nd, for the Diamondbacks. With the win, Arizona pushed its record to 67-66.
With Arizona trailing 3-1 in the bottom of the third, Portillo hit a sinker from Keury Mella for a 3-run home run. It was his 17th home run of the season and put the Diamondbacks ahead, 4-3.
"Just trying to keep things simple and helping the team win any way I can," Portillo told a local reporter after the game.
