Ikeda Hits 2 home runs in Blue Jays Win
|
The Toronto Blue Jays beat the Minnesota Twins by a score of 5-2. Toronto first baseman Rintaro Ikeda deserved the lion's share of the credit. Ikeda was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice for the Blue Jays. The winner in relief was Kevin Hunt. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 1-0. Picking up the save was José Amaya. He's now 16 for 20 in save chances.
Ikeda contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Toronto in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 1-0, Ikeda took a fastball from Huascar Ynoa and stroked the home run to left-center. His 24th home run of the season allowed the Blue Jays to leap in front, 3-1.
"Every time you put a 'W' on the board is always good," said Ikeda.
The win gives Toronto a season record of 74-60.
