Victors Again, Los Angeles Win Streak at 8
|
Another day, another victory for the red-hot Los Angeles Dodgers.
Detroit designated hitter Luis Aquino had a good game, even if his team did not. The Tigers dropped a 6-5 decision to Los Angeles at Comerica Tigers Park. Aquino went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. José Cruz picked up the win, lifting his record to 15-4 on the season. He struck out 8 and walked 2 in 5 innings, while yielding 2 runs. Jorge Gonzáles earned save number 3 this season.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Mike Garland? The Los Angeles second baseman had a bases-clearing double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Dodgers on top, 6-2. For the game, Garland had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"The guys come to the ballpark ready," said Dodgers manager Torey Lovullo. "They're going out there and doing the simple things right."
The winning streak has now reached 8 games for Los Angeles.
