Angels Topple White Sox with Late Rally
|
The Los Angeles Angels took Chicago pitcher Phil Childress's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. The final score had Los Angeles getting past the White Sox, 3-1. Childress went 6 innings and allowed no runs, striking out 7. Los Angeles reliever Darren Watkins got the win, raising his record to 5-0. Alec Asher was tagged with the loss. Max Rey locked down his 13th save.
Los Angeles went in front, 3-1, on Mike Trout's 19th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which Trout hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Chicago pitcher Alec Asher visibly perturbed.
"We put together a nice win," Trout said.
The Angels sit in second place in the American League West Division with a record of 69-69.
