A 4-RBI performance from the 25-year old shortstop Héctor Rodríguez helped the San Francisco Giants beat the Arizona Diamondbacks, 9-0. Don Labonte picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 7-3. Danny Hatfield suffered the loss.

With San Francisco leading 1-0 in the bottom of the second, Rodríguez hit a cutter from Danny Hatfield for a 2-run triple. It was his 9th triple of the season and put the Giants ahead, 3-0.

Arizona manager Jake Mauer said his team was "out of sync."

With the win, the Giants hiked their record to 83-62.
