The skies opened up and the rain fell at Progressive Field.

Behind a fine performance from Edgardo Medina, the Kansas City Royals knocked off the Cleveland Guardians, 7-2. Medina was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Royals. With the win, the Royals have a record of 78-69.

The Royals got a big hit from left fielder Jorge Palmeiro. Facing Cleveland pitcher Hunter Harvey in the top of the fifth, Palmeiro pounded a 3-run home run to left. His 7th home run of the season put the Royals ahead, 7-0.

"We didn't play well enough to win," Cleveland skipper Tristan Bugbie said.
