Los Angeles Sent Home with 5-2 Loss
|
Seattle beat Los Angeles on the strength of starting pitcher Artie Caines's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-2. With the win, Seattle pushed its record to 79-69.
Seattle took a 5-2 lead on Al Lockhart's 3rd home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which Lockhart hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Los Angeles pitcher Kevin Phillips visibly frustrated.
"That's how you're going to be successful," said Mariners manager Jeff Banister. "It starts with pitching and it will always be pitching."
