|
The New York Yankees turned back the Minnesota Twins, 4-3, at Target Field. Israel Ávila, in particular, had a fine performance. He went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 runs. The Yankees improved their record to 60-91 with the win over Minnesota.
With the game tied, 2-2, in the top of the fifth, Ávila had a key at-bat for New York. With a runner on 2nd, Ávila hit a run-scoring single off Jared Turner, making the score 3-2, Yankees.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Minnesota manager Robin Ventura. "But we decided not to take it."
