Blue Jays Send Boston Home with 3-1 Loss
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Boston Red Sox, pitcher Vince McSweeney was the difference between victory and defeat. The Toronto left-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-1 Blue Jays win. José Amaya earned his 21st save in 26 chances. With the win, Toronto upped its record to 85-72.
The Blue Jays got a big at-bat from catcher Yasmani Grandal. For the game, Grandal was 1 for 3 with a double and a walk. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 8th double of the season gave Toronto a 1-0 lead.
"I was able to really locate my pitches tonight," said McSweeney.
